Isan sono Robin Saville e Antony Ryan che hanno iniziato a pubblicare
musica insieme nel 1996. Dopo avere collaborato con varie etichette sono approdati
alla Morr Music divenuta il loro ambiente sonoro ideale.
Robin ed Antony vivono rispettivamente nel Southend e a Reading e lavorano separatamente per la maggior parte del tempo, comunicando attraverso posta elettronica ed internet. Malgrado ciò la loro proposta è affascinante ed omogenea, e documenta una ricerca di suoni impalpabili ed eterei, svelando influenze quali Erik Satie, il primo krautrock tedesco e le pagine minimali ed “ambient” di Brian Eno.
Il loro cd più recente è “Plans Drawn In Pencil”, una raccolta di ammalianti melodie, dove la ricerca tra sonorità pop ed inedite illumina nuovi percorsi musicali.
Isan are Robin Saville and Antony Ryan. They started publishing their music together in 1996. After collaborating with various music labels they landed to Morr Music which soon became their ideal and spiritual home.
Based in Southend and Reading respectively, Robin and Antony work separately from each other most of the time; communicating via e-mail and Internet. Notwithstanding their proposal is a fascinating and coherent body of work, testifying a research of ethereal sounds and revealing influences by Erik Satie, by the German “krautrock” and by the minimalist experiences of Brian Eno.
Their newest cd “Plans Drawn In Pencil”, is a collection of fascinating melodies where research in pop and new sounds light up new musical paths.
