Tra i fondatori della Kitchen Motors e membro di una della band di rilievo dell’etichetta l’islandese, l’Apparat Organ Quartet, Jóhann Jóhannsson è uno dei più apprezzati compositori e performer della nuova scena musicale del Nord Europa. Inoltre Jóhannsson è noto per le sue collaborazioni interdisciplinari, in particolare con il teatro e la danza, come per lo spettacolo "IBM 1401, a User´s Manual“, realizzato in collaborazione con la coreografa e danzatrice Erna Ómarsdóttir, e rappresentato con grande successo in numerose e prestigiose sedi. Le musiche di scena di "IBM 1401, a User´s Manual“ sono al centro dell’ultimo cd di Jóhannsson, che fa seguito a numerose prove sia da solo che insieme agli altri artisti del collettivo Kitchen Motors. Ricerca e sonorità visionarie, confronto tra strumenti acustici ed elettronici, con uno spiccato gusto per i primi sintetizzatori e tastiere “vintage”, sono alcune delle caratteristiche più evidenti della sua proposta.

Founder of Kitchen Motors and member of Apparat Organ Quartet – one of the most important Icelandic label bands - Jóhann Jóhannsson is one of the most beloved composers and performers in the north European musical scene. Jóhannsson is also well known for his collaborations in theatre and dance fields – like for "IBM 1401, a User´s Manual“, originally written as the accompaniment to a dance piece by the choreographer Erna Ómarsdóttir, and performed with large success in many prestigious locations.
