Ritorno in Toscana per uno dei pianisti più influenti e eminenti del jazz moderno: McCoy Tyner. La sua presenza si manifestò sulla scena del jazz nei primi anni ’60 come membro del leggendario quartetto di John Coltrane. Nato a Filadelfia, Tyner iniziò i suoi studi a tredici anni alla Granoff School of Music. La sue prima occasione di farsi apprezzare fu quando divenne membro del Jazztet di Art Farmer e Benny Golson nel 1959. Tuscany comeback for one of the most outstanding and influential of all the modern jazz pianists: McCoy Tyner. He first began to make his presence felt on the jazz scene in the early 1960s as a member of the legendary John Coltrane Quartet. Born in Philadelphia, Tyner began his music studies at Philadelphia’s Granoff School of Music at the age of 13. His first major break as a professional musician was when he became a member of the Art Farmer-Benny Golson Jazztet in 1959. Later McCoy became a virtual house pianist for the Blue Note label, recording with Donald Byrd, Grant Green, Joe Henderson, Freddie Hubbard, Bobby Hutcherson, Hank Mobley, Lee Morgan, Wayne Shorter and Stanley Turrentine among others. He made his début as leader more than 40 years ago and, in 1967, recorded the memorable “The Real McCoy” album for Blue Note, with Joe Henderson, Ron Carter and Elvin Jones. Since then Tyner has toured and recorded with a variety of bands and top jazz artists, from solo piano to his own Big Band. His new trio features Charnett Moffett on bass, who previously collaborated with Ornette Coleman, and Eric Kamau Gravatt, former drummer of Weather Report.
