EVAN PARKER in concerto

Uno dei fondatori del nuovo jazz europeo, Evan Parker, è il creatore di un nuovo linguaggio per il sassofono solo. La sua tecnica, che estende la ricerca iniziata da John Coltrane ed Albert Ayler, e il suo uso della respirazione circolare hanno influenzato tutti i sassofonisti più giovani, ma la la sua musica è unica ed immediatamente riconoscibile.
La sua carriera è iniziata a metà degli anni ’60 a Londra, dove iniziò suonando con lo Spontaneus Music Ensemble, dove figuravano, tra gli altri, il batterista John Stevens e il chitarrista Derek Bailey. Ha continuato a lavorare con Bailey in differenti occasioni e contesti, ed iniziò a lavorare con il percussionista Paul Lytton, con il contrabbassista Barry Guy, ed anche con i migliori solisti del jazz europeo come il sassofonista Peter Brötzmann, il pianista Alexander Von Schlippenbach, il batterista Han Bennink. Ha anche partecipato a molti degli ensemble di rilievo della nuova scena musicale quali Globe Unity Orchestra, Brotherhood Of Breath, London Jazz Comporers Orchestra, Louis Moholo Octet.
Evan Parker è ancora impegnato con gruppi e progetti differenti, come il trio con Barry Guy e Paul Lytton e l’Evan Parker Electro-Acoustic Ensemble.
Da metà degli anni ’70 si esibisce e registra da solo al sassofono, il suo repertorio in solitudine che privilegiava l’improvvisazione più radicale di recente si è avvicinato alla musica di John Coltrane e a quella di Thelonious Monk, anche per celebrare un altro maestro e pioniere del sax solo: Seve Lacy.
Il concerto solo di Evan Parker in Sala Vanni è particolarmente atteso, nell’antica sala, senza amplificazione, Parker troverà un ambiente ideale per la sua musica.

One of the founder of new European jazz, Evan Parker is the creator of a new language for solo saxophone. His technique, where he extends the experiments started by John Coltrane and Albert Ayler, and his use of circular breathing influenced all younger saxophonist, but his music is unique and immediately recognizable.
His carrer started in the mid 60’s in London where he began playing with Spontaneus Music Ensemble, with drummer John Stevens and guitar player Derek Bailey, among others. He worked with Bailey in different occasions and musical combinations, he started working also with percussionist Paul Lytton, with bass player Barry Guy, and also with the best players of European jazz, like saxophonist Peter Brötzmann, pianist Alexander Von Schlippenbach, drummer Han Bennink. He also partecipated to many of the most rilevant ensembles of the new music scene, as Globe Unity Orchestra, Brotherhood Of Breath, London Jazz Comporers Orchestra, Louis Moholo Octet.
Evan Parker is still busy with different bands and projects, as the trio with Barry Guy and Paul Lytton or the Evan Parker Electro-Acoustic Ensemble.
Since the mid 70’s he plays concerts and records with solo saxophone; his solo repertoire that focused on the most radical improvisation recently approached John Coltrane’s music and Thelonious Monk’s music, also to celebrate another maestro and pioneer of solo saxophone: Steve Lacy.
Evan Parker’s solo concert in Sala Vanni is particularly awaited, in the ancient venue, without P.A.system, he will find an ideal ambient for his music.
