Contabbassista, compositore e poeta William Parker è uno dei leader più importanti e dotati del new jazz. Dopo aver collaborato con Cecil Taylor e David S.Ware, è attualmente impegnato in numerosi progetti: The Curtis Mayfield Project, Little Huey Creative Orchestra, In Order to Survive, William Parker’s Quartet e altri. E’ anche fondatore del Vision Festival a New York e collabora con musicisti quali Matthew Shipp, Peter Brötzmann; inoltre ha inciso oltre venticinque dischi come leader. After collaborating with Cecil Taylor and David S.Ware, he is currently working with several projects: The Curtis Mayfield Project, Little Huey Creative Orchestra, In Order to Survive, William Parker’s Quartet and others. He is also founder of Vision Festival in New York City and collaborates with musicians like Matthew Shipp, Peter Brötzmann; he also released more than 25 records as a leader. William Parker Quartet’s music is deeply rooted in jazz and blues tradition, a strong proposal where Parker is sorrounded by some of his closest collaborators. The project “Raining On The Moon” features the William Parker Quartet, that is considered one of the best unit in new jazz, plus Leena Conquest on vocal and dance. The result is powerful and funky, is something that really celebrates the spirit and richness of “Great Black Music”.
